Old XF has been one of the long options in this segment, but the use of space n has not been as effective as it could be and rear seats always felt a little small, despite the number of announced legs. To resolve this issue, Jaguar stretched the wheelbase by two inches while effectively reducing the overall length of a hair. The change not only pushes the wheels to the corners for improved aesthetics, it helps to give the largest trunk in the segment to 19.1 cubic feet and gives the XF 5 inches for a combined legs 535i.

To be honest, the interior of the S-Type was more my thing than we have in the XF. Undoubtedly, the "space" of "grace, space and pace" motto Jaguar is satisfied, but the grace is in the eye of the beholder. quality parts is significantly improved compared to the 2015 model, with a new cut that premium feel, a new steering wheel and stitched upholstery on the dashboard. The style of the interior is what failed to resonate with me. The XF is still a clear break with the Jaguar of the last decade and modern compared to the German competition.

speaking of touch screens, the new InControl system is a step forward for Jaguar, but BMW, Audi and Mercedes have not standing still. The result is a navigation control system and the vehicle is still a step backwards. So I would take the joystick Lexus InControl one day, the technicians will likely gravitate toward iDrive, MMI or the E-Class in 2017 with its huge COMAND screen.

The key improvements in this production system, apart from a faster processor, are adding voice commands to your USB library press secretary, a camera system around, and integration of the smartphone. The integration of smartphones is a good example of an area where this system lags behind the competition. Instead of integrating carplay or Android Auto as Audi and Mercedes have done, Jaguar has put together an application that behaves somewhat similar, but gives a standard look on both Android and iOS devices. However, this integration has not the visual polish of Apple and Google creations. The display optional head is similar to a step behind the system that we see in the A6 and 5 Series, with graphics that are comparable to what we see in the Cadillac and Lexus HUD systems.

Compensate largely disappointing for the infotainment system is a sound system Meridian 11 standard speakers. The system 380 watts is the best standard audio system in the segment by far with a well balanced sound. The Meridian 825 watt option is a nice upgrade, but the basic system is running so well that I do not see much reason to upgrade.

You should also know that Pro InControl Jaguar system was not available for our review. The packet level-up swap the 8-inch LCD screen for a tablet's display as 10.2 inches in the dashboard that appears to offer a superior experience with a faster processor, split-screen displays ( has iDrive), more intuitive navigation and LCD dashboard of 12.3 inches that rivals Audi virtual cockpit. If you like the XF and are addicted to technology, wait for this system.

For now, the Jaguar AJ126 engine is the only one available in bound XF America. The 3.0-liter V6 0 degrees is shared with the F-Type is essentially a Jaguar AJ-V8 with an altered course and bore that had two cylinders cut. The XFR is a solid alternative M5 and intermediate trims hold their own against the 535i on the track. Dynamically, the new XF is not a radical change from the old XF. The old XF was already on the lighter side of the segment, undercutting a comparable 535i about 180 pounds, but the aluminum regime believes that the delta to 360. The weight lighter empty pays dividends in terms of acceleration and braking. Our tester AWD 340 horses sped to 60 in 5.3 seconds, a bit faster than the A6 3.0T and some faster than 535xi. Perhaps more impressive was the 60-0 braking distance 108 feet, which was nearly 10 feet shorter than 535xi and about the same as an Alfa Romeo 4C. The choice of Jaguar Supercharged engine eliminates the small amount of delay that we see in all of the BMW 535i in the new 400 horsepower Infiniti Q50.

On the down side, Roots blower Jag is the likely cause of the XF mediocre fuel economy figures. Certainly, my average 19-20 miles per gallon probably had something to do with how the XF is fun to drive, but I did a few mpg on average higher in the BMW and Lexus despite EPA published numbers are almost identical.

As expected, the electric power steering has sucked most of the comments on the steering rack of the XF, but what little remains is comparable to what we find in the Lexus GS and Cadillac CTS. As the CTS and GS, the XF has a well balanced feel when pushed into corners. This is a notable contrast to the Audi A6 which is prone to plow because of its heavy front end. BMW and Mercedes have balanced weight similar to the Lexus, Jaguar and Caddy, but they choose to settle their suspensions to predictable understeer. Jaguar, on the other hand, not only gives you a neutral frame of air, but also an AWD system programmed for a strong polarization of the rear wheel. According to this sports Mission, the XF has a pretty firm ride, even if it is composed on the broken pavement.

The XF combines the feel of handling the Cadillac to the emergency, we see only in the Jag and the Audi A6 3.0T, at a price that Lexus should stand up and take notice.
