as soon as I finished my time with 2015 Nissan Murano, my mind wandered immediately with the new Ford Edge.

You see, the Murano is fantastic. It is comfortable without effort. The ride is sublime. When driving the Murano, everything is damn-near perfect. But the Murano could not be considered enough by someone subject to the "Ludovico Technique" and thousands of flashing images of the Infiniti QX56 QX80.

The Murano is violently green dress and neon pink boots up to the knee fitted black number in the Edge and Saks Fifth Avenue pumps. At a black-tie affair, one that will stick out, and for all the wrong reasons.

However, appearances can be deceiving. It was in this outfit retinal burn I find an incredibly competent crossing in the Murano. It's hard to blame her eyes closed.

Now it is the turn of the Edge. Would I find the same characteristics that made me fall in love with Nissan mobile lifestyle?

Exterior
by far, the Edge will not be confused for anything 'other.

Since the first generation made its way on public roads, Ford's middle child tried his best to visually blend the line between cars and trucks of the Blue Oval. Up front, the Edge has always paid version of the barred gate Gillette brand, connecting closer to Ford trucks, but his headlights slowly transformed from one form F-150-esque than the Taurus and Fusion.

Like the first edge, the continuous design of mixture in the second generation - and wisely. The 2015 Edge gets a new version of the barred gate - continues its visual link to the truck series F and bigger Flex - nestled in a hexagonal atmosphere apparently drawn directly from the Taurus. Also at the front of our titanium trimmed tester are a pair of fog lights to LED pentagonal "signature" in the faux brake ducts housings, standard on SEL and models, and LED daytime running lights in enclosures lighthouse. HID headlamps are optional, even this high range pad, and came mounted on our tester as part of a group of equipment $ 5,645.

In silhouette, Edge continues to appear before aggressively raked rear window and giving it a different form of anything in the segment. Our tester came with elegant chrome trim surrounding the side glass and matching polished aluminum 20-inch wheels optional (Titanium models usually come with 19-inch "nickel-painted chandelier" aluminum shoes). These large metal round pieces will hamper its ride quality as much as I thought they would - but more on that later

The rear is vertically divided by a . LED light bar connecting the taillights on Titanium models and Sport and the license plate is mounted above the tailgate. Lower, the dual exhaust tips standard burst through a faux diffuser.

Overall, the high scores in the yuppie dink polls thanks to its Edge style, but it is certainly not as offensive bold Murano. The Edge also seems expensive - because it is. As tested, our tester financial titanium tips scales at $ 44.785 -. $ 5,360 more than the Murano I tested earlier this year

Interior
Compared with the Murano, the Edge more luxurious look inside, but at the expense of comfort.

to start, while the seats of the Ford are much more pleasing to the eye, they can not hold candle to the comfort offered by the seats in Zero Gravity the Murano. Nissan has a solid tower defense game, but I will not blame Ford for not keeping up with the needs of my back. In addition, the cockpit in the board is also still feels a little tighter visually - and I loved it. I felt more a part of the car.

The materials on the dashboard are decidedly more upscale. Instead of uber-false grains, Ford gives you simple satin plastics that are less likely to scratch their brilliantly polished counterparts (though there are some of those as well around the cup holders).

And as leather burnt orange / brown beautiful is everywhere. Regarding the interior color, it nails it -. But personally, I would not have a car painted black

Powertrain
For 2015, Ford gave additional motivation options advantage in a new TWIN- scroll 2-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 in the Edge Sport. Our tester came with the old, producing 245 horsepower and 275 foot pounds of torque - but only when you fill the tank with premium juices dino. If you choose to run the regular gas pump, the motor will not mind, but it will not produce the figures cited either. If you want to make the complexity of turbocharged engines, Ford still offers the normally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 option

Back to the EcoBoost 2-liter engine in our titanium model :. The experience is a mixed bag.

one hand, it is really difficult to blame the new plant from the viewpoint of handling. When coupled with SelectShift automatic drive and six-speed Ford all wheels, the little four-pot is as smooth as any turbo mill can be. The Mercedes-Benz 2-liter turbo used in the CLA and GLA are downright agricultural in comparison, and the Ford mill is almost on par with smooth V-6 with what I'm sure is cubic feet of its damping material.

but there is a cost associated with that sweetness :.

fuel economy

most of my time with the Edge was spent in town, but even then, I would have gotten better than 18.7 mpg recorded by the onboard trip computer. For comparison, the Murano with its V-6 engine transmission and CVT delivered 22.4 mpg in just under city driving centered.

Infotainment
2015 the Board itself might be new, but its not infotainment.

SYNC in the 2015 Ford Edge is not SYNC3. We are still in the era MyFord Touch here. That said, I still do not understand the derision hoisted on "SYNC with MyFord Touch," as it is marketed, by people who remain anonymous. Yes, it takes some getting used to and it might even be a little slow sometimes, but have you tried the infotainment systems of Japanese brands - Honda, Subaru, Toyota, et al ? I prefer to be stuck with this version SYNC for the rest of my life if it meant never having to use Starlink ever. And do not get me started on the apparent inability of Honda to manufacture a volume knob.

However, even this version of SYNC is not long for this world in the Edge. The 2016 model brings the new version dashboards. So instead of asking me what I think, go to a Ford dealer and try both. Chances are the dealer will have both 2015 and 2016 Banks of the year at hand model.

Regarding the Sony audio system with 12 speakers, it sounds great when it receives high quality air for all I know, but I 'm no audiophile.

perceived quality, not the kind JD Power

So remember this post awhile back? You know, that a.

Well, as many of you guessed correctly, these photos were taken of this particular board. Here all.

therefore, there are two possibilities: 1. Let c ' is a pre-production model in a media fleet (which several sources have told me should never happen); or 2. This is a production vehicle (which should be, since we get this car at the end of 2015 run model) with few problems.

Also, I want to be very clear to you - B & B TTAC, our more casual players, and those of Ford will reassess my future access press fleet - I do doubt not the quality of the Edge. Panel Mount is one of those things that can take long time for the right, and the first race of the year a new model will have teething problems.

What I do want to highlight is the perceived quality of what is no difference-as-made $ 50,000 crossover top-trim

If someone will file a significant amount of their income on a new vehicle -. which may be the purchase of first or second most expensive of their lives - they expect a certain level of quality, perceived or otherwise. I have no doubt Edge is a quality product in the sense of "mechanically robust and reliable" of the word, but I'm not sure that the general public would be so forgiving.

And they have not been . Since I for CAPD, I received more emails about Ford panel mounting - mostly on the Mustangs. - than any other common denominator It might be time for Ford to renew their focus on quality perceived, building if for no other reason than to have its vehicles better show the fate of a dealer.

player
the Ford Edge, when ignoring dismal fuel economy, better leads than you expect with its large diameter wheels and skinny tires for shoes.

when I expected to be crossover Ford crashy it smooths the bumps. When I thought that this rock here and there on undulating pavement, it remained fairly flat. And when I expected the engine crank and groan as overworked turbocharged four-cylinder engines to Ford showed me that a builder can build a turbocharged small displacement that does not behave like a frenzied baboon.

Ford crossover requires a little more effort than turning enjoyed the bar. The steering wheel, for some reason, offered more resistance than that observed in the much larger, much more truck-y Cadillac Escalade I recently drove. For a vehicle for moms dads as much as I think it might be a little lighter

In a word, however, I can put my conclusion Edge in three sentences :.

The Edge is 9 / 10th as good as the Murano

But I would still buy Edge

And I recommend both - .. but I tell people to get the 3.5-liter V-6 Edge instead simply based on fuel economy.

Buying a car is an emotional decision as much as it is practical. While the Murano is almost everything I want to be a cross, he does not have a quality I really implore. Good looks

And it is that I hitch my arm to the girl at the black tie affair wearing black dress - because it is easy to stick when you are not one, but much more hard to do when you are in
