
For the fourth year entry level model Acura, the ILX undergoes a complete transformation of the powertrain. LED headlights and trim line changes again differentiate the refreshed 2016 ILX, but less noticeable changes are the real difference makers

Gone is the ILX Hybrid, the base 2.0L four-cylinder ILX and last remaining manual transmission Acura. The sole powertrain is now a 2.4L 201 horsepower from basic versions of TLX.
The ILX based Honda Civic is not using the exact same engine as range-topping Civic Si, and it is definitely not use any of the transmissions of the Civic. Instead, 2016 ILX is equipped with a dual clutch 8-speed unit.
Honda has found a way to make the DCT function with a torque converter, and therefore it is a more sophisticated dual-clutch transmission (especially at low speeds around town ) you'll encounter elsewhere in the dual clutch universe, but without some of percussive edge of some competitors. In isolation, the ILX is not a disappointing car, especially when luxed-up and body-kitted as it loaded A-Spec car. But too stiff rear suspension and how the ILX crashes on the imperfections of the hard floor remember how quietly the Buick Verano Turbo made its way down the road. The direction of the ILX is too numb and lack of apparent downright too athletic not to bring to mind GTI as the race of the Audi A3 and balanced handling. And while the extra power standard 2016 model finally makes the ILX a competitive car, the 2.4L is certainly not a monster torque. These are not the high-VTEC revvers of yesteryear - the ILX feels decently fast before it is mounted in the past regime 00 rpm - but with only 180 lb-ft of torque, it is down 78 lb-ft over CLA250 Mercedes-Benz, a car that wants to shove moment. There are ways the ILX is better than all the cars, but the comparative shortcomings of Acura are more obvious than its benefits.

US sales peaked at 20.430 units in its first full year, 2013, but the ILX fell 13% in 2014 and the volume of the first quarter in 2015 is off pace from last year by 15% . Year to date, the ILX sells less than half as often as the Buick Verano, Mercedes-Benz CLA and Audi A3.
