"Very little to dislike," I found myself meet every day during my week with 2016 Honda Accord.
It is rare for a test drive visit generated many questions and compliments. But the slightly restyled Accord, straddling catch the eye of Touring, filling wheel 19-inch wheels, was found by friends, family and neighbors to be quite the looker. And because it is a car that is squarely placed in affordable domain, they will not only complement the Agreement as they did the $ 85,000 Audi A6 I drove earlier this fall. Instead, they ask, "Do I love him?"
And indeed, there is very little to dislike about the Honda Accord refreshed. perhaps the tower on the bottom of 19-inch rubber profile is too firm for some buyers of medium size. the continuously variable transmission, but not nearly as offensive as some examples of the breed, can cause tedious humming of the motor during the rapid acceleration of rest and wonderful outside Apple Auto carplay Android systems, the touch screen. - with "buttons" embedded - is not the most intuitive
Yet strong handling, impressive powertrain four-cylinder, decent interior space. and a stylish exterior design make the Accord feel like a good amount of car for the money.
This, however, are not normal review TTAC Agreement. We try something different, and you have experience covered beta. My job is to bring you the vital numbers and put this in context.
( Keep in mind, this is a Canadian-spec car. Accord Touring models in the United States are high level agreements with. V-6 engine in Canada, Touring is like the high-end agreement, but it is available with four-cylinder engine, manual 6-speed transmission and in many ways the Sport Accord with more equipment: same direction fast, very large wheels, but four fewer ponies. our tester was optioned with the CVT. )
power
with 185 horsepower at 6400 rpm (and 181 lb-ft of torque at 300 rpm) the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder of the Agreement generates more than seven horses 2.5 liter four-cylinder Toyota Camry; three more than the Nissan Altima 2.5-liter four; and 10 and four more horsepower than the central dual input levels, four-cylinder Ford Fusion. The Hyundai Sonata / Kia Optima 2.4-liter mill corresponds to the output of the Agreement, which tops the basic drivers of all other midsize competitors
Verdict :. Tied for first place
Optional horsepower
in the first level of finish where American Honda allows an upgrade of the engine of the Agreement, EX- l, 3.5-liter V-6 adds 93 horsepower for a total of 278. the extra cost? $ 2.075 or $ 22.31 for each additional horse. Only the Chrysler 0 295-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and 280 horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 of the Volkswagen Passat provide the most powerful engine updates
Verdict: . Third place
fuel economy
Estimated at 27 mpg city and 37 on the highway with the 2.4-liter engine and a continuously variable transmission, the more efficient (non-hybrid) as the Agreement is four mpg better city and three more on the road than the 2.4L / six-speed manual combo. Opt for the V-6 / automatic six-speed economy drags the city down to 21 mpg in the city. The impact of the road is less remarkable, with the 3.5-liter V-6 rated at 34 mpg. There are, however versions of the Mazda6, Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata, non-hybrid four-cylinder should consume less fuel. 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 liters / CVT and 2016 Chevrolet Malibu 1.5 liter turbo / six-speed automatic have the same rating as the most effective combination Accord 2.4 liter equipped
Verdict :. Tied for fourth place
Cargo Volume
different versions of the same car often have different levels of load volume. With this agreement is the best example four-cylinder, buy, has ranked us against the best equivalents of base engine from rival manufacturers. Agreement cargo volume in this case, to 15.5 cubic feet, is 2 percent smaller than the largest trunk Agreement. The size of the body TTAC readers can squeeze through can vary because these specifications are the shape and extent dependent methodology. In addition, two smaller trunks in the category belong to the two lowest volume cars: Legacy and Mazda6. The 16.3 cubic feet trunk of the Hyundai Sonata is the largest
Verdict :. Seventh Place
Passenger Volume
Compared to the first class, Sonata 106.1 cubic feet of interior volume, the available space of the Agreement is for passengers 5 percent smaller. And it feels about five percent smaller, sufficient deficit opinion of merit, but not nearly as much as to cause the Agreement to feel cramped inside
Verdict :. Tenth
Rear Legroom
space dimensions legs manufacturer provided does not hold a candle to jump in the back seat of a car to explore the area for yourself. Although some say with the legs feeling the expansive back in first class, Volkswagen Passat - officially 39.1 inches - most would not believe that rear legroom of the Mazda6 is still a bit more substantial than the 38.5 inches Agreement, much less than two-tenths of an inch
Verdict :. Fifth place
Sales
Not since 01, before what would become a series of 14 years for the Toyota Camry this year has been the best-selling Accord the mid-size car in America - and therefore the best-selling car overall. It is a perennial podium finish, though, and despite a drop of 10 percent to 320.501 sales through the first 11 months of 2015, the agreement will end this year as runner-up Camry
Verdict :. Second place
Length x Width x Height
With the newly expanded Civic tenth generation, consider the position of the Agreement in the Honda range. At 192.5 inches long, the Agreement is 10 inches longer than the new Civic. The Civic is 70.8 inches wide; Agreement is two inches wider. From road to roof, the Agreement is 57.7 inches, two inches larger than the Civic. 106.3-inch wheelbase of the Civic is three inches shorter than the Accord. The third-gen Pilot is two inches longer, bumper to bumper, the Agreement; the Odyssey minivan is just over 10 inches longer. Nose to tail, Acura report of the Agreement, the TLX, is not quite as long, but the TLX is a little larger and not quite as big.
Empty weight
A base four-cylinder Accord LX with manual transmission weighs 3170 pounds. The heavier Agreement, as American Honda, is the Touring V-6-3605 pounds. This four-cylinder, Canadian-spec Touring car is a 3435 pounds. Heft true medium is seen in the 3802-pound Chrysler 0C AWD V-6. Mazda said that their lighter 6 weighs 3,179 pounds. Chevrolet claims the base 2016 Malibu and Malibu LS L will each weigh less than 3100 pounds.
Observed Fuel Economy
As cold temperatures, and I began to enjoy excellent chassis of the Agreement, the large wheels and the way of enthusiastic driving did not help the fuel economy during our week with the Honda in early December. Yet in a mixture of urban and suburban driving, and with very little highway mileage, we averaged 27.4 mpg on the scale of the United States, tied with the symbol of the city of the Agreement. Many potential real-world comparisons are not applicable, because GCBC we mainly tested the non-standard cars midsize V-6s and diesels and hybrids. The latest 2.4-liter Sonata we tested has reached 30.9 mpg, but in less fiery and much warmer conditions.
Steering and tires
As the Sport Accord, Accord this Canadian Touring-spec four-cylinder uses the faster management: latch lock is 2.46 rounds, not 2.54 the other agreements with four cylinders. With more rubber - 235 / 40R19 Continental ContiProContacts, not the 205 / 65R16s or 215 / 55R17s under agreements -. Turn-in is much easier
Money
Destination inclusive Accord prices start at $ 22,940 in America, with an additional $ 800 required for the optional CVT. Adding Honda controls security kit, Honda Sensing adds $ 1000. EX price starts at $ 26.315. The CVT Sport is $ 26,800. The least expensive V-6 Accord is the EX-L V-6 $ 31,480. Agreements top out at $ 35,415. The basic version of the best-selling car in America, the Camry is $ 23,05, but that price includes an automatic transmission. The CVT less costly Agreement is $ 165 less.
