My 2016 Subaru WRX crossed the mark of 15,000 mile after only nine months of ownership. While some of his new car smell is gone, my affection for it is growing.

The WRX has received scheduled maintenance and began a journey in competitive conduct to bring out its full character. I also gave the urge to change the WRX with some small changes.

The mileage WRX has tripled in the six months since my last update. Meanwhile, he saw another oil change and a reminder, which involved the inspection of driving the turbocharger inlet to identify a manufacturing defect that could cause a tear. Since this type of tear may cause contaminants to hit the turbocharger turbine, I planned to work reminder when I received the notice. Fortunately, my input has passed inspection and the Subaru mechanics did not find any damage.

Since I was approaching the 11,000 mark mile in that time, I asked the dealer to make another oil change during the same appointment -you. This brought my total maintenance cost $ 140 so far. A shot cracked fog, caused by a flying rock, was my only other service related expense. I could find a replacement on eBay for about $ 40.

My insurance costs remained the same in its first renewal, with a slightly higher premium than 09 hybrid Saturn Vue my wife. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Fuel consumption did not vary wildly. The WRX continues to average about 25 miles per gallon in mixed driving, and even peaked at 32 mpg on some long road trips. I did manage to take another rock with my hood, causing a gap and a gouge in the paint of the WRX. I'll leave it for now because the imperfection does not bother me enough to spend the money on repairs and repainting.

The engine redline sees often. I still choose country roads on the highways and enjoy every minute. My brother and I even took the WRX on autocross event. We were pleased with the performance and ran mid pack. Tires heated slightly in races later, but we still have some way to go before we exceed the car. We plan to do more events autocross this year and even plan to release in the SCCA Targa Southland, allowing us to experience what the car can do at three different tracks and various events across the South East.

The WRX deviates from its predecessor because it has a cable-operated shifter contained in a plastic housing. Over time, I noticed how it could be sloppy in certain situations. For my first amendment, I decided to see if I could shake up. I took a lever to stop people Kartboy for just over $ 30 and adjusted the shift lockout of the factory to put the gear lever in a bit. It took less than an hour to make the changes, but the shifter feels much tighter and I have much more confidence that this is going in the right ratio.

Although the WRX has a lot of power, I started looking at picking up a AccessPort if I can find an opportunity for a good price to start tweaking a little engine. Waive warranty coverage is a compromise, but as Jack Agreement, the car will have figures on cases, so that the guarantee can not have the full validity anyway.

Like Tim with his Odyssey, I used the WRX to run the occasional hardware store. I have a drummer truck dedicated to carrying everything from drywall to older engines, but I often find that I only have a few things to pick up and can save time by on the way to work. Most of the time, the cavernous trunk of the WRX can swallow just about anything. I even used the WRX 2x4, which can fit behind the seats fell all the way down. For those of you who are a little more practice, the trunk is perfect for mounting baggage that can swallow two large bags and a carry quite easily.

The infotainment system continues to be slow and sluggish, but I got used to it. To avoid glitches, I use a cigarette adapter 12V to charge the phone instead of plugging directly into the USB port built into the car. The 12-volt charge my phone faster and prevents the sound stopping if Bluetooth is turned on at the same time.

The interior is fairly resistant, but requires frequent dusting to maintain its fresh appearance. Dunlop Sport Maxx tires see some value and will probably need replacement before the end of the year. The brake pads will see accelerated wear to attend some competitive driving events, so I prepare to exchange the OEM pads and put something a little more aggressive soon.

I really think I'm the car for a steal and I'm in the unusual position of having some equity on the car that is in a 72-month loan. I often see models used for retail more than I paid for me last year. wholesale prices show similar models sold for only $ 500 less than that amount. I usually pay more than the minimum each month, but I'm happy to have a few thousand dollars less than what I could realistically sell currently. This car is a joy to own. I know it was the right choice because it is rare that I walk away from it without giving it a separation glance.
