My nephew is 11. I'm 33. Hopefully his gene pool is deeper than mine. But excess is extra good in my life. I appreciate more than I need the TV most nights and not one, but two cheeseburgers in my meals at value sometimes. If a Forester is good then a Forester turbo must be large by my definition of juvenile world
Already one of the best crossovers in the market, the Forester really benefits from glaciers pace powertrain Subaru :. Flat four front, four drive wheels under - and they will check back sometime over the next decade. The naturally aspirated, older 2.5-liter flat four runs in Foresters pedestrian; its 170 horsepower is competent as coffee from the gas station. Force feed 80 other ponies - for a total of 250 for the XT turbo - should make the Forester better. It could, right

The Forester turbo is certainly not boring. It has a rare quality of a car that pushes you forgettable seats and asks questions like: "Wait. What car am I again? "For the difference between what is expected and what is received, the Forester wins the Boyle Price Surprise Susan this year. (The same could be said for a Dodge Omni GLH.)
This year, call the new Fozzy "new Forester" would be an oxymoron. The improvements this year include a Starlink telematics system to call for help if you find a gap - and here
Exterior
If you '. are not in love with the looks, you're not alone. The Forester did not sport the same aggressive lines like a Ford Escape - or Hyundai / Kia for that matter - but the compact crossover segment has good looks to Kansas interesting geography. Spend a minute looking at the outside and you get the gist.
The only visual cue that this car can be different than the naturally aspirated model is the lower front fascia. A black chin on the Forester XT is the only indicator that this car may possibly be different.
The front of bulbous bottom does not seem to correspond to the upper half, and I'm inclined to call Toyota- esque. However, the rear end of the Forester does not seem to show the side, so we will call the external performance of the whole car "underestimated."
The good news is that the metal of the Forester does not match his courage. The 8.7 inches of ground clearance is still shockingly good and low belt line serves its purpose inside - not. Only about 180 inches long, the Forester Sports roughly the same dimensions as all other CUV on the market - including the Volkswagen Tiguan. (Mark's opinion of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Tiguan see me everywhere, apparently.)
Interior
The interior of the Subie is the Leatherman tool car; exactly what you need - with a little polish - and nothing you do not. Sewn wheel, for example, is a beautiful piece that completely covers the fact that it is a normal wheel feeling.
Similarly, the gray stitching around our seat in black leather (standard on Touring models and not available on other models) broken sea of black with Subaru interiors, but the seats were all just OK. - Two hours in the car feel like a night on a cot
But the function of the interior comes alive when you start stuffing dog, gear, people, bikes, kayaks, people, gear and more dogs inside. 34.4 cubic Forester is about the same size as the Ford Escape (34.3) but less than the Honda (35.2) Toyota Rav4 (38.4) and CR-V. It also sports a large rear cargo opening to use the space. Fold-flat 60/40 rear seats help when walking outweighs people and more people. With the seats down, the Forester expands to 74.7 cubic feet of space, more than the Escape (67.8), the CR-V (70.9), Mazda CX-5 (64.8 ) and Rav4 (73.4).
• window switches are further arm of driver rest door and angled towards the driver that requires you to take your eyes off the road and actually find the window switch that you want to use
• new StarLink buttons placed above the driver's head is too small and less integrated than, say, OnStar.
• The small tray of coins in the rest of the arm, it is difficult to reach the ports of 12 volts and two available USB ports located in the armrest.
• Table can be confusing. On the wheel, there are two buttons SI Drive, one to switch between "Sport" and "intelligent" mode, and another to toggle between "Sport Sharp" mode and "intelligent". What a button to switch between the three? and the X-drive (Subaru drive out program) button has two large silver buttons, only one is an actual button that can be pressed.
• When equipped of Ophthalmology, the sun visors are comically small. with plastic extensions, they will work, but my rough measurement would say they are 16 inches long better.
Subaru finally got the memo and strongly improved its infotainment system two years ago from inheritance, and it's finally sunk in small cars like the Impreza and Forester .
this system was widely covered, and is technically not new, but it is worth noting that the screens of 6.1 inches and 7 inches are different experiences. The 7-inch screen, mounted in our Forester XT, is far superior model and - in my opinion -. Worth it even if it means walking to Premium and upper trim for
The Touring models get a 440-watt Harman / Kardon audio system that for a semi-premium sounds remarkably well. The Forester allows a fair bit of wind and whistling speed highway so it is better to turn the air.
The pinching StarLink navigation, and scans slides and is the best system I've found outside of Apple carplay it does not cost silly money.
Powertrain
The Forester XT comes with the Subaru turbo'd four that produces 250 horsepower and 258 pounds of torque -Feet - only 18 horses short of the WRX. Any comparison between the two should probably stop there, but they will not so we can not
Both have similar suspension configurations -. McPhersons up front, double wishbone and coil in the back (the WRX inverted struts her this year to accommodate larger wheels) and the same AWD system when equipped with an automatic transmission. (The WRX can be done with a manual, which is a different system, then there is no way of getting a Forester turbo with a stick ... again.)
The power of the Forester is not what I would say straight. The motor gasps for ticks torque at low end before the turbo spools up and provides all the power of a rush of satisfaction. The CVT simulates the gear steps, and run the Forester to its 00 rpm redline, but the boost out of ideas long before.
Subaru did not advertise 0-60 mph time for the Forester XT, but our clock runs consistently shown up to a mile-a-minute in just over 6.5 seconds - whatever the selected drive mode. The tracks of 20-60 mph were considerably faster.
The WRX starts 1.5 seconds from 0-60 mph time (due in part to his diet 174 pounds), but also because his power is more direct and quicker off the line. The Forester XT is not the Forester STI - at least not yet

A Forester with more power is not the best. Forester of all. Despite a significant power difference on the base model, the 80 extra horses in the Forester XT will not be used for sports stripe readers. Management is overstimulated, the journey is too great and the power comes too quickly for the Forester to be anything but fun -. Not necessarily sport
Instead, the Forester XT is a better option for the genre "all options checked" by the buyer. You know the kind; the person who actually controls on Showtime's cable package because it's nice "option."
A base model Forester is more than able to withdraw from a snowstorm, a canyon and wintery hell, so it should be on the state flag of Colorado. But, indeed, the basic, older 2.5-liter flat-four will not break the doors of the line.
The Forester XT compensates this loss of power in a very respectable manner. The fuel economy penalty is minimal (27 vs 25 combined combined), although premium fuel XT drink.
But for $ 3,00 on the same model, the XT does not present a better value in terms of capacity or performance. The Forester is quite good
